Book Review: And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

and-then-there-were-none4 Stars

Ten people trapped on an Indian island, each with a past darker than the other. One by one they start dying. They suspect each other – there’s no one else on the island but them. Facing their inner demons, they are murdered, one by one, till there are none.

The suspense in Agatha’s story is unbearable. I heard many say that this is one of her best books. I would have to read more of her work to make such a statement. This book, however, is a thrill. The anticipation of discovering whose death would be next, how the next victim would die, who will stay till the end, and, most importantly, who’s the killer, is nerve wrecking.

The revelation at the end is not something I expected – I can’t really say if that’s a good thing or not. All in all, however, And Then There Were None (also known as Ten Little Indians) is a very good book to pick up and read on a cold winter night.

  1. I’am a huge fan of AC,and for a guy who has read the ‘MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD’,which is believed to be the most diabolical work of AC,this is miles ahead of them all.And the conclusion,so twisted, you would never see it coming, even if you guessed the murderer.I would also recommend other books of AC such as ‘the murder on the orient express’,’five little pigs’,’why did’nt they ask evans’, and my personal favorite,Poirots last case,’The Curtain’….But don’t you dare read it,before you read all the Poirot cases first,it will be worth the wait 🙂 🙂

  2. I just finished reading, Murder At The Vicarage. I, for the life of me, am always looking for the one least expected to be the murderer, but I seem to always fail. I am going to try to find this one that you have read. I should have it because I have the entire series, unless one got misplaced. Will check it out soon. Thanks for sharing. I wish i could get my menu’s up and subtitled like you have. It makes it so nice to be able to read what you want.

    1. Thank you for your comment. Getting your menu like mine is pretty easy. Just go to the editing page, where you edit your blog. On the bar to the left you have various editing options, the ninth one is called “appearance” (it looks like a brush). “Menus” is the fourth option in “appearance”. One your in the menu you get to choose which pages and categories to display on it. Hope this helps 🙂

  3. I am an AC addict. She made me love suspense. I find it hard though, to pick one and call it her best book. I really can recommend you to read more of her work. Apart from the suspense her work gives you a great insight in the time and society she was part of. I wish you lots of cold winter nights!

  4. Another good book from her that some people rate as high as this one is The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. I love Agatha Christie books. I think I’ve read most of them. Good times.

Great review. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
