Word of the Day

ImageWord of the Day is back! And today’s words are antonyms – to some extent.

Connoisseur (noun):

a person who is competent to judge and criticize, especially in matters of taste and arts.

Dilettante (noun):

a person who takes up art merely for amusement, especially in a superficial way. Synonyms: amateur.

Example:

I consider myself a coffee connoisseur; when it comes to Jamaican alcoholic cocktails, however, I am a mere dilettante.
